A Spring Transition

Spring Transition-1

3.16.16

Welcome to the time of year when you have no idea what to wear out of the house!!! That’s when you know spring is really fighting to push through.  One day you’ve got bare legs as you run errands all day long, two days later it’s misty and cold and you’re back to layers and tights.  How are you supposed to deal with this? Especially when it varies over 20 degrees from the time you step out to the time you crash in your apartment feeling like you’ve accomplished so many things (and by things I mean drinks?)

It’s time to get creative, and while chunky sweaters aren’t the most flattering, or form fitting (the word ‘chunky’ is involved sooooooo), you can help yourself out with a skinny belt.  It helps with a silhouette and gives you a little more shape when it’s not quite time to bare shoulders and legs in consistent warm weather.

I haven’t done an outfit post in a while, and felt a little out of practice. And while I still feel a little swallowed up in big sweaters, I think when it’s brisk out, it’s something to just come to terms with. A bright strapless dress is easily worn in colder weather with a warm cardigan so you don’t have to hide it away for so many months.

I love wearing this dress during the summer, and being able to extend it’s life through the year helps feeling like there’s more versatility in my wardrobe.  I throw tights on under summer dresses all the time and turn in the sandals for oxfords or thigh high boots. And there’s something about having something colorful on that just brightens the day, even if there’s a chill.

Stitch Fix is such a fun surprise, but also a gamble. I’ve been lucky enough that in each shipment, I usually keep at least 2 items.  This white sweater being one of them.  I don’t own anything like it and it’s actually pretty warm.  While it’s purpose is to be oversized, I still don’t feel totally lost in an outfit like this.  But if I want to escape into pure casualness, this sweater with a tank and jeans are an easy go to for me.

So throw on your favorite cardigan, and enjoy spring as those heavy jackets fade further and further into the back of your closet!
