Off to the Races Part Deux

5.8.17

And another year of life has gone by.  This past weekend, while I had a lot of fun and made the best poor decisions, most importantly was good for my soul.  I never make a huge to do about my birthday, but it’s always nice to be surrounded by close friends and those who mean the most.  We started the festivities by watching the Kentucky Derby and the horse I bet on won the race!  Then I drank all the bourbon in Manhattan, and Phil and I had a relaxing Sunday to enjoy each other’s company. It was a near perfect 48 hours. Birthday + Derby = double the reason to get a little dolled up and wear a big hat. And I needed to show off my new dress, a cozy little number that can be dressed up or down.

I snatched this dress from a Banana Republic Factory Outlet, which is closer to my apartment than I’d like.  It’s dangerous.  Plus the whole store was on sale, ugh, it was plain trouble. The dress is more like a sage color, which is a nice change for a neutral, and a pop of green and gold is the perfect touch.

I also cannot believe it’s been so long since I’ve brought out these shoes.  I bought them within the first year of moving to NYC and I forgot how beautiful they are! They’re pretty comfy to boot, and even though I’ve had them forever, it proves that classy pieces never go out of style.

I’m going to have to up my hat game next year for the Derby, but this was a good last minute fill in. I feel like an epic trip to Michaels will be required.

I know it’s Monday but keep your chin up! Through a cloudy Saturday the sun eventually did come out. I’d like to apply that on this mentally hazy Monday when I’m not ready for real life again. I’m never ready to start a new week, but I look forward to the sun peeking through.
