Pixie in an Urban Jungle

Flower Crown-3

As I’ve mentioned recently, this past weekend was nuts.  The day after my birthday I brought a lot of delicious treats to a friend’s baby shower. And while you won’t get those pictures until the awesome photographer gives them too me, I can show you the fun and whimsical outfit I wore to said shower.

I don’t know if you’ve ever been given a flower crown as a gift before, let me tell you, it is the best. It’s like the grown up tiara. You feel like the most special nymph around. As part of my birthday gift, a close friend of mine MADE me a flower crown. You heard me.  Not only was it gorgeous, but knowing she made it!!!!! So special. I couldn’t wait to put it on for the whole evening of my birthday celebration.  What’s even better is I carefully put it in the fridge and wore it to the baby shower the next day!! I love yellow, and because I was feeling epically hungover from drinking all the alcohol in Queens the previous night, I wore mostly black, letting the details do the work for me.

My husband and I did grab breakfast and lots of coffee nearby to try and feel like real people again, and I did my best to look like a normal human. But even though I felt rough around the edges, I loved my outfit too much not to shove the camera into my husbands hands and make him snap a few pictures.

Look at how hard I’m working to be awake! For the love of the blog.

I loved being able to wear my new skirt from Ruche, which sadly is closing its online doors. If you do want to try and grab up some of their items on final sale, I recommend it.  This skirt was too cute not to snatch up. Huge polka dots? I’m in. And the big bow in front is a great extra detail to set it apart.

My new spring shoes!!! I saw these browsing the aisles of DSW and couldn’t say no.  I was also due for some new summer sandals anyway. They have a little height and are pretty comfortable, and how convenient for them to be yellow like my awesome flower crown!!!

A midi skirt and tucked in blouse is classic, and when you’ve got a black and white skirt, the sky is the limit for color combinations.  I just needed a little help this morning from some more black, which is oh so slimming.

You almost can’t tell I want to take the nap of a lifetime right here. And I have to say, I’ve never met a dot I didn’t like.
