Blogs are weird. I wrote a little bit on my Instagram, recently, about how easy it is to make life look fun and fancy free on blogs, just like social media. Post only the good, the delicious, the fun, the positive. But in truth, this past month has been a monster of mostly feeling overworked, underpaid, and exhausted. With days stretching 12-14 hours all week, leaving little time to get anything extra done (i.e. grocery shopping), and feeling like spare time is a thing of the past. The few posts I have put on here or on social media have been the only days I’ve had to breathe. And now, on the 4th of July, there is a light at the end of my tunnel. The whirlwind is about to calm and I am hoping to spend the rest of the summer enjoying outside whenever I can, drinking some well-deserved rose, baking new things, and hanging out with the people I love.
On one of those elusive days off I was referring to, Phil and I headed to the newly opened Domino Park in Brooklyn. It’s still a work in progress, but is already a beautiful stretch of grass along the water with volleyball, a taco stand, and plenty of benches to stretch out and soak up your vitamin D for the year. I suited up in red, white and blue for our adventure, which began on a ferry and ended in a cold beer and curry mussels. It was exactly the kind of day I needed before the homestretch of a packed schedule.
Does this shirt look familiar? I wore it ages ago in Mexico! I don’t expect things from Forever 21 to last as long as the name implies, but I guess when you only wear it twice every summer it can last forever! And are you keeping track of all the things I own that are blue and white stripes? I’m still not done showcasing them all yet.
Beautiful as always!
