On the Road: Love in Kansas City

Just a quick little post before the weekend.  I’m in the midst of creating a few recipes to post before Thanksgiving, as well as balancing what I’ll actually be making myself for Thanksgiving festivities.  I have a few days of celebrating so all the more opportunities to make some deliciousness.  Keep a look out for at least one, if not two posts before next Thursday!

Last weekend Phil and I headed to Kansas City to celebrate our friends wedding in the hometown of the bride.  Not only was it so special to see them get married, but Phil also sang during the ceremony! If I wasn’t already crying (I was), then I was a mess by then (it’s true).  It was a beautiful celebration and a fantastic reception afterwards and I was truly honored to be invited.  I love love and watching people who are such a great match declare it in front of all their favorite people in one room is a pretty special event.

We stayed with another couple in an AirBnB downtown in the Crossroads area. Phil and I basically just hunkered down under blankets when we weren’t partying.  It was incredibly cold while we were there and it snowed nonstop the first two days.  The wind was bitter and cruel so when we weren’t at the wedding or grabbing food, we stayed in soft clothes and watched Hulu.  Both of us were more than fine with it.  Our time off together this year has been sparse, so just doing nothing is something to us.  Our time in acceptable grown up clothes was limited, but these pictures are from one of those times. And when you have such an incredible wall of books where you’re staying, how do you NOT take pictures? We don’t have fun curated pictures from the rest of the weekend, but the light hit this room just right and we took the opportunity to look like sexy casual models.  I was wearing two of my favorite pieces from this season so far: a cream Gap sweater I got on clearance earlier this year and a Madewell bandana that goes with everything.  I’ve been wearing both constantly, and it seemed like the perfect time to show them off.

Enjoy the picture I snuck in of my husband, who is a foxy devil, so I couldn’t resist. Stay warm and dry this weekend! I’ll be leaving my apartment as little as possible.
